Question

How do I add previous payments to 1099 contractors that are not showing up as payments?

When I switched over to quickbooks, my 1099 contractors are only showing ACH payments from when I started using quickbooks.  Id like to manually add previous payments to them.

Hello there, @rjones22.

Let me share information about 1099 contractor payments that are not showing up as payments.

First, if the payments are not yet recorded, you can enter them depending on how you pay your contractors and make sure also to use the correct expense account for them to show in 1099.

Also, some payments will not show in the 1099-MISC and 1099-NEC forms and are instead reported on the 1099-K form. These are payments made via credit card, debit card, or third-party system, such as PayPal, which are excluded from the 1099-MISC and 1099-NEC calculations. It is because the financial institution reports these payments, so you don't have to.

You can read this article to understand which payments are excluded from a 1099-NEC and 1099-MISC: Understand which payments are excluded from a 1099-NEC and 1099-MISC.

For future reference, you can also read this article to help you troubleshoot missing contractors or wrong amounts on 1099s: Troubleshoot missing contractors or wrong amounts on 1099s.
