Question

How do I change my estimate and invoice emails to align the text to the right? It is currently defaulting to center text. I cannot find option to change this. Help!

I have tried all the formatting options on the custom forms styles tab / menu settings, etc. There is an option to change font and size but that is it. I need the email alignment option.

Good morning, @jessica-carlsonc

Thanks for reaching out. I hope you're enjoying the day so far.

Would you mind sharing a screenshot of your current format? This way, I can get a good idea of what's happening and what you'd like to see.

While I await your response, I wanted to mention changing your template. Some templates can cause all the text to flow to the center, as you've mentioned. I've included some steps and a screenshot below to help change the template.

  1. Click the Gear icon at the top.
  2. Under Your Company, click Custom Form Styles.
  3. To edit the template, click the Edit link under the Action column.
  4. Select Invoice.
  5. Go to the Design tab and click the Change up the template option.
  6. Choose the style you want.
  7. Go to the Content tab to customize the header, body, and footer of the invoice template.
  8. Click Done when finished.

I'll be sure to keep an eye out for your response, and look forward to chatting with you soon. Take care!

The issue I am having is the alignment of the actual email not the template. 1) screenshot of email template where text is aligning to the left. 2) actual screenshot of email where content in email is being centered.

I cannot find an option to change this. In the "design" tab of templates it only gives font and size, not alignment of text within in the email.

Hello @jessica-carlsonc,

Thank you for getting back to us and providing screenshots about the issue. I'm here to help you fix the alignment of the message on an emailed invoice from QuickBooks Online.

Ideally, the message for the customer should show exactly like the preview from the Email tab of your template (your first screenshot). The system defaults the content alignment with the left margin, and a setting to change it is unavailable.

Since you're getting a center alignment, I recommend performing some troubleshooting steps. This way, we can isolate and figure out the cause of the problem.

For now, I recommend sending the invoice to a different email address. It'll help identify if the issue is something to do with the content viewing of your email.

Aside from that, you can also switch to a different supported browser. It will help check if the browser contributes to the unusual result on your end.

If the problem persists, please give us a call. We can check the issue further and open an investigation if necessary. Our support for Plus, Essentials, and Simple Start is available from 6 AM - 6 PM PT (Monday - Friday) and 6 AM - 3 PM PT (Saturday). For Advanced, any time, any day.

Here's how you can reach them:

  1. Click the Help tab in the upper-right corner.
  2. Go to the Assistant tab.
  3. Click Get help from a human.
  4. Choose Chat with us or Have us call you.

Also, there are recommended operating systems, internet speed, and your web and mobile browser for QuickBooks. To get the best experience, I've attached an article about it: System requirements for QuickBooks Online, Accountant, Payroll, and QuickBooks Self-Employed.

I'm just a post away if you have any other questions about your emailed invoices or template configurations in QuickBooks. Take care.
