How do I change the date format in QB online to show DD/MM/YYYY?

Currently, we use the US version of QB online which shows how we write date in the US (Month/Date/Year).  It is possible to change the dates to show either DD/MM/YYYY or just spelled out like November 25, 2020 or 25 November, 2020?

We have operations in parts of Asia and this gets very confusing.

I've got here the steps in changing the date format in QuickBooks Online, rudzinskin.

Here's how:

  1. Go to the Gear icon and then select Accounts and Settings.
  2. Choose the Advanced tab.
  3. Scroll down to the bottom, then select Other preferences.
  4. Click the pencil icon beside Date format.
  5. On the Date format drop-down arrow, select dd/MM/yyyy.
  6. Select Save, then Done.

For your visual reference, I've attached some screenshots below.

Additionally, I've included an article that'll help you track your sales, purchases, and profitability by business location. This is to ensure your data is categorized from different locations: Set up and Use Location Tracking.

Will this change the dates on past entries?

Thanks for posting on this thread, LC-7979.

When you update the Date format settings, the changes will also apply to your previous entries. The dates for your past transactions will still be the same, but the format is no longer the same as what was previously set in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

For more details, feel free to read this article: How do I set my advanced account settings? It provides a list of Preferences available in the Advanced section.

Additionally, this reference covers all the details on how to customize QuickBooks to help you manage your business smoothly: Configure Accounts and Settings. The article is from another region, but it also applies to the US version.

Keep in touch if you have other questions or concerns about the Date format preference. I’m always ready to help and get this taken care of for you. Have a great day ahead.

I have a user who doesn't have full access to the accounts but needs to change the date format - how does she do that? It's a shame the date format can't be associated to the customer because we are constantly having to change from UK format to US format in the settings
