How do I change the name of an account in QuickBooks online? Everything else about the account should stay the same.

I want to just edit the account name, nothing else.

Hi 19nscda54,

To change an account name:

  1. In the left navigation bar, click Transactions.
  2. Select Chart of Accounts.
  3. Look for your account, then click the small drop-down arrow beside View Register or Run Report.
  4. Choose Edit.
  5. Update the name of the account.
  6. Click Save and Close.

The word transactions is not in my left navigation bar.  Now what?

    Choose Accounting in the left navigation bar. Then 'Chart of Accounts'. Go to the account you wish to edit. Click on the drop down button next to View Register or Run Report. Edit will be one of the options.

    It is not in my left navigation bar either.

      From the Dashboard, select Accounting tab. It will take to Chart of Accounts. Select "Edit" under drop-down arrow next to view register.
