I'm new to QB so bear with me. I purchase items of same model # (which is how we put into QB) but often am able to buy at a discount cost. How do I track this kind of thing on an individual sale

Thank you for reaching out to the Community, @Robin11_2. I'd be happy to help you with changing the purchase price of an item in your inventory and tracking it on individual sales.

Here's how:

  1. Find the bill, check, or expense related to that item.
  2. Edit the rate
  3. Save and close

Pull up Inventory Valuation Detail then edit the rate on the purchased item. Please make sure that the expense is edited by seeing the date of the transaction.

Here's how to Pull up Inventory Valuation Detail Report:

  1. Go to Reports.
  2. On the search bar type Inventory Valuation Detail Report
  3. Select the report to open it.

There you can find the transaction. If you want to learn how to run basic reports and give you a snapshot of your business you can view the article in QuickBooks.

Additionally, here are some articles that you can read to help you learn how to adjust inventory quantity and also if you want to track your inventory in QuickBooks Online:
