How do I deactivate an account that is linked to a product or service?

Previous controller created hundreds of accounts that are linked to a service.  All are sitting on our trial bal as a $0 bal.  I would really like to clean them up and deactivate them but am unable too since they are linked in products and services.  Please help!? 🙂

I'm here to help you deactivate an account that is linked to a product or service in QuickBooks Online.

 

If products or services are associated with the account, you can modify the account they are linked to. Alternatively, you can deactivate the products and services that are linked to the account.

 

Follow the steps below if you choose to change the account the product or service is linked to.

 

  1. Go to Settings ⚙ and select Products and services.
  2. Find the item and select Edit.
  3. From the Income account▼ dropdown, choose the account you want to use.
    Note: Can't see the account? Make sure the account's detail type is Sales of Product Income.
  4. Select Save and close.
