How do I find out the last expenses that where recorded

the new menu only shows to record new expenses but I need to know what date the last expense was recorded

Allow me to guide you on where to see your most recent expenses in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

Here's how:

On the left navigation panel, click Expenses.
Select Expenses from the All transactions dropdown.
If you see old transactions, click the Date column to show your most recent ones first.

From there, you can easily see the last recorded expense, including the payee and amount.
