Yes, sure, @kathie5.

Thank you for utilizing our recurring features in QuickBooks Online (QBO). I'm here to ensure you're able to review all the recurring journal entries that have already been done in QBO.

You can find the successful recurring Journal Entry in QBO by running a Journal or Transaction Detail by Account report. I'm happy to guide you through the process.

  1. Go to the Reports tab on the left side.
  2. Type the said report in the search box.
  3. Click the Customize button.
  4. Pick a Report period and Row/columns
  5. Select Journal Entry in the Transaction Type.
  6. Tap Run report
  7. Click the transaction one at a time to review the data.

For more details about customization, check out this article: Run reports in QuickBooks Online.

You can also click the Save customization button to memorize the report. This will help you since it automatically updates every time there are newly added transactions.

I've added helpful articles that surely help you in handling your recurring transactions, journal entries, and reports.

Feel free to leave a message below if you have further questions about your journal entries. I'm always here on your back, ready to help you. Keep safe.

I want to have a journal report of only those entries created by recurring journal entries and the template name source.  This is to review templates vs results posted.

Thanks for checking in with us, riverside27.

The option to run a journal report for recurring journal entries and the template name source is unavailable in QuickBooks Online (QBO). We can filter the Recurring Transactions list to see the journal entry template. Here's how:

  1. Click the Gear icon in the upper-right corner and select Recurring Transactions.
  2. Select All in the Template Type field.
  3. Choose Journal Entry in the Transaction Type field.

Then, we can customize the Journal Report to see the journal entries that were created successfully.

  1. Go to Reports and search Journal Report.
  2. Click the Customize button and go to the Filter section.
  3. Select Journal Entry in the Transaction Type.
  4. Click Run report.

You can also modify the report by clicking the Customize button. Once you have the perfect set of filters, save them so you can run the same report in the future. Let me show you how:

  1. After you customize a report, select Save customization.
  2. Give your report a name.
  3. Press Save.

To learn more about this one, see the Customize reports in QuickBooks Online article. Using the Transaction Detail by Account report would be a good alternative, too. Also, use the Search menu to pull up a journal entry list: How to Print a Journal Entry Report.

I have created a recurring journal entry for prepaid expenses, monthly. How do I use it again? It isn’t the same as the standard recurring bill. Thanks for your I assistance.

Hello there, Anienoel.

I'll be sharing further details on how recurring transactions work in QuickBooks. Let me also ensure you can use the created journal entry for prepaid expenses in QuickBooks Online again.

Bill and journal entry transactions are distinct and they work differently and independently in the program. However, they're still the same in how they work when it comes to organizing recurring transactions. The program allows you to specify the Type to ensure that the entry occurs at the appropriate time.

For you to utilize again the created recurring journal entry for prepaid expenses, I recommend choosing the Use option in the said transaction. Before doing so, you have the option to open the template and set up it as Scheduled if you need this entry apply to monthly basis.

Here's how:

  1. Click the Gear icon ⚙.
  2. Choose Recurring transactions.
  3. Locate the recurring journal entry and click the Edit link.
  4. Go to the Type drop-down arrow and select Scheduled.
  5. Click Save template.

Once done, please follow these steps on how you can use the template again:

  1. Go to Gear icon ⚙.
  2. Select Recurring transactions.
  3. Choose the template.
  4. From the Action column dropdown menu, select Use to utilize the template as a starting point for a new transaction.

In case you need steps on how to permanently delete a journal entry that isn't needed anymore in your business, you can read this article: Reverse or delete a journal entry in QuickBooks Online.

If you have additional concerns regarding creating recurring journal entries, please leave a reply under this thread. I'll get back to make sure you get the assistance you need, Anienoel. Have a great day!
