How do I format the Statement of Financial Position to have indentations on both the account names and the column of figures?

In the desktop version, our bookkeeper provided a pdf balance sheet that had nice indenting of the account names and similar indenting on the associated numbers, now all the figures are in a single column.

I hope that I'm wrong, but there does not appear to be a way, even in the Customize settings, to modify the indenting in a report.  BUT... there actually are very slight indentations in the QBO financial reports... which we can use!!  Here is a workaround that takes just a few minutes:

Export report to Excel

Highlight all columns

Select font that will give you the greatest indenting.  The wider the letters, the wider the indent!

From Excel, export to PDF

Hello, @SuzanneHSV. Let me assist you with customizing reports in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

Financial reports provide you with information about your business. You can customize reports and format the layout so the right data shows up in the right place.

To do so, here’s how:

  1. Go to the Reports menu.
  2. Find and open report.
  3. On the right-top corner, click Customize.
  4. Under "customize report", you can customize the GeneralRows/ColumnFilter, and Header/Footer sections.
  5. Click, Run report.

After you customize a report, you can have the system memorize it by pressing Save customization. Proceed with entering a name for it, then hit Save to complete.

Furthermore, you can checkout this article on running and customizing reports: Customize reports in QuickBooks Online.

For future reference, you can also refer to this article on exporting reports, lists, and other data from QuickBooks Online.

Let me know when you need further assistance with customizing reports. I’m just one post away. Have a great day!

Thanks for the help. I had already customized my report as you described, but the format was still not what we were used to in the desktop version of QB.  I chatted with John at QB who viewed the report from the desktop version and the online version and confirmed that the online version does not offer the same formatting options.

Thank you! The QBO member I chatted with confirmed that I cannot get the same format in QBO as we got from the desktop version. If my board members really don't like the new format, I will try your Excel work around.
