Hi there, nobetta.  I’m here to ensure you can connect your bank account to QuickBooks Online.

First off, may I know which bank institution you are using? Is this your first time linking your bank account to the program? This information will help me identify any reported issues related to your experience.

Please know that there are reasons why you might be having trouble connecting your bank to the program. One of those is not all types of accounts are supported (for example, personal vs. business accounts) and this might be the reason you're getting an error can't Link to this category.

For now, I recommend making sure to enter the correct bank's URL into the search. For example, search for "hsbc.com." for HSBC.

If you have tried all the options matching your bank's URL and still unable to connect, you need to request support from your bank. To do so, follow the steps provided below:

  1. Go to Transactions menu and select the Bank transactions section.
  2. Click Connect account.
  3. Search for the name of your financial institution. If QuickBooks is unable to find your bank, you will get the message, "Hmm, we can’t find [name of the bank you entered] in our list of supported banks," and you will be presented with helpful tips to try and locate your bank account.
  4. If you’re still unable to find your bank, select Request.
  5. Enter your bank's web address (URL) in the field provided, then choose Request.

In case you need steps on how to review your downloaded entries to avoid duplicate data, you can read this article: Categorize online bank transactions in QuickBooks Online.
