How do I like a sub-customer to a customer? I have done it in the past, but it is not allowing me to do it now. Thank you!

I was trying to add a sub-customer to a parent customer, but the online version would never find my parent customer.  I was able to do it on my phone though, and it shows up correctly online - so all is good!

Before we begin, could you please confirm whether you'd like to convert a sub-customer into a parent customer in QuickBooks?

 

If that's the case, you can easily achieve this in just a few steps. Like this:

 

  1. Go to the Sales menu, then choose the Customers tab.
  2. Select and open the sub-customer's profile.
  3. Click on Edit.
  4. In the customer's detail window, uncheck the Is a sub-customer option.
  5. Once done, hit Save.

 

On the other hand, if you need to change the parent account associated with the sub-customer, follow these steps:

 

  1. Go to the Sales menu, then choose the Customers tab.
  2. Open the sub-customer's profile.
  3. Click on Edit.
  4. In the customer details, select the parent customer in the Parent customer dropdown.
  5. Then, tick the Bill parent checkbox if you want to bill the sub-customer with the parent customer.
  6. Once you're finished, hit Save.
