Question
How do I manage configurable products, having hundreds of variations, coming from an online store?Currently the SKU comes across with no other data to search on.
1. Here is a sample use case:
a. Assume that I sell clothes in my store.
i. For a shirt I have variants/options
1. Size: S,M,L,XL
2. Sleeve length: Short, Long
3. Collar type: Button Down, None
4. Color: Blue, Black, Brown, Tan
ii. I also sell pants that have the following options customers can pick from when ordering:
1. Inseam length: 24, 26, 28, 30, 32, 34, 36, 38, 40
2. Waist: 24, 26, 28, 30, 32, 34, 36, 38, 40
3. Fabric: Wool, Denim, Polyester, Spandex
4. Crotch Fastener: Button Fly, Zipper, Velcro, None
iii. As the variants and options are created in Squarespace each is assigned a unique SKU which is a unique, random number (as it should be). Based on the permutations and combinations of the options items each product can contain hundreds of SKUs. Combine that by all they types of clothes, shoes, etc you can easily get to hundreds or thousands of unique items.
b. All those variants and options come across to QuickBooksOnline (QBO) as individual SKUs which but none of the variant data comes across.
2. Here in lies the challenge:
a. If I want to use QBO to track inventory, issue Estimates and create PO’s for vendors I do not know if SKU #1234567 is a Small Short Sleeve Blue Shirt of if it is a Button fly pair of Denim pants
