It's great to have you here today, TerryS54. I've got steps to help you resolve and merge these accounts into one active data in your QuickBooks file.

When merging accounts in your company file, these processes are permanent and won't enable you to undo them once completed. If you're referring to your QuickBooks Online accounts, there are default or special data that can't be changed and merged as one. You may check this guide for more detailed insights: Manage default and special accounts in your QuickBooks Online chart of accounts.

However, if you want to combine duplicate accounts, you'll need to ensure all detailed information from the other account is the same data entered into the account you want to keep. To help you do this:

  1. Go to Settings and select Chart of Accounts.
  2. Find the duplicate account (the account you won't keep) and select the dropdown ▼ in the Action column. Then, click Edit.
  3. Change the Account name (Name) and Tax form section (Detail Type) so the duplicate account's info exactly matches the account you want to keep.
  4. When you're ready, select Save, and then Yesmerge accounts.

QuickBooks will now move its past transactions from the duplicate to the account you want to keep. You'll want to visit this reference for more insights: Merge duplicate accounts, customers, and vendors in QuickBooks Online.

Furthermore, I've added this guide to help you review your accounts to ensure these always match your bank and credit card statements: Reconcile an account in QuickBooks Online.
