Hello pcvango,

I'd be glad to walk you through pulling up a Profit and Loss by Class report in QuickBooks Online.

First, turn on the class tracking feature by clicking the Gear icon and selecting the Company Settings. Then please follow these steps:

  1. Under Company, click the pencil icon for Categories.
  2. Check the boxes for Track classes and Track locations.
  3. Click Save.

To print the report, you just go to Reports and type Profit and Loss by Class in the search bar.

If you have further questions, please let me know.

My P&L by class report is very wide (many classes) and prints all on one page.  Is there a way to break up the classes so that it prints three or four classes per page the way it does on Quick Books desktop versions? I don't want to have to export it to Excel just to get the report to print to multiple pages, but right now that seems to be the only workaround to this difference between QBO and the desktop version.

You may want to customize and filter the report for specific classes you want.

Run the Profit and Loss by Class report > click "Customize" button > select Filter > select specific Classes from the list > click Run report.

If you need to run this report on a regular basis, click "Save Customization" button. Next time, you will see this under Reports > Custom Reports tab in QBO.

Is there a way to customize the "profit and loss by class report" so that the classes are listed vertically down the first column instead of each class being a different column across the top? I see that some reports have a pivot option, but this report doesn't. Or can a custom report be created that achieves the same end?
