How do I set up a brokerage account in Quickbooks Online?

Best not to try, QB is not suited for anything dealing with a brokerage account. It will not do ROC, splits, spin offs, etc etc

Keep the total cost value as an asset account, and if you have checking associated create the checking account to track cash on hand
