How do I set up subaccounts when the chart of accounts is already established?

I appreciate you posting here in the Community, @kkgodbey. Let me guide you through setting up your sub-accounts in your Chart of Accounts. Rest assured that even if your Chart of Accounts is already established, you can still add subaccounts under a parent account.

 

Here's how:

 

  1. Go to Settings and select Chart of Accounts.
  2. Select New.
  3. Choose the account type and detail type. Ensure the account type is the same type as the parent account.
  4. Enable the Is sub-account checkbox and choose the right parent account.
  5. Click Save and Close.

 

You can repeat the steps above to create multiple subaccounts under a parent account.

 

It's important to note that in the Chart of Accounts, all parent accounts and their subaccounts must have the same account type. To change the account type for a group of accounts, you'll need to change the type of an existing parent account or subaccount.
