It's nice to see you here in the Community, Joy.

I'd be glad to help you stop the auto sequence numbering for your invoices in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

Here's how:

  1. From the Gear Icon in the top right of your QuickBooks account, select Account and Settings.
  2. Choose Sales from the left menu.
  3. Click on Edit to the right of the Sales form content.
  4. Turn off the Custom transaction numbers.
  5. Select Save and then click Done.

After that, it'll turn off the auto sequence numbering for invoices. However, If you want to change the format of your invoice numbering to xxxx01 and then xxxx02 after creating an invoice, you don't need to turn off the feature. Instead, you can manually edit the invoice number, and the next time you create an invoice, the system will automatically follow the new numbering pattern.

Here's how:

  1. Select the +New Icon, and select Invoice.
  2. In the Invoice number, type 00001.
  3. Select Add Customer, and choose a customer from the drop-down.
  4. Enter the invoice datedue date, and terms.
  5. Enter a product/serviceQtyrate, and amount.
  6. Select Save and Close.

Once done, create an invoice again and check if the invoice number changes or automatically follows the new numbering pattern.
