Question

How do I turn off the feature that generates emails for invoice reminders? It is AWFUL and I would never send an email like this. My own template was fine.

This new feature in QB that appeared out of nowhere is the absolute WORST. I went to send a reminder invoice and the AI bot said it wrote something for me, instead of using the email I wrote and had in my settings that worked perfectly FINE.  It is this "Generated" feature.

I would NEVER send an email reminder to a client using what this AI bot wrote so I have to fix it manually EVERY time.

It is AWFUL. Please. How do I turn this OFF?  It worked just fine until I woke up one morning and it didn't.

I recognize your sentiments, Astertalent, and I'm here to assist you in turning off the automatic overdue invoice reminders seamlessly.

Beforehand, can you share a screenshot of your AI-Generated invoice emails on your end? Any additional information would be much appreciated.

For now, I recommend going to your Accounts and Settings. From there, you can disable the Automatic invoice reminder feature to ensure your clients are no longer notified about overdue invoices. This change will be applied across all your invoices. To do this:

  1. Go to the Gear icon ⚙, then click Account and settings.
  2. Click on the Sales tab, select the pencil icon ✎ in the Reminders section.
  3. Turn off Automatic invoice reminders.
  4. Click Save and Done.

Moreover, you may refer to this article to see steps on how you can edit or delete an invoice payment and group multiple payments together into a single deposit: Record invoice payments in QuickBooks Online.

I'll always be on this forum if there's anything else you require additional assistance managing customer invoices in your account. Just let me know in the comments below. Keep safe.

Thank you for the reply, but this is not quite the question I was asking. I have this function off already as I want to be in control of when invoices and reminders are sent.  I also want to control what the reminders say and this is the problem

When I go to my invoices and send a reminder, an email message is generated automatically by your AI, as opposed to the email that I drafted and have in my settings, and worked really well until you forced this email generated by QB.

So, every time I send a reminder I have to manually redo the email and manually redo the Subject line to override the email generated by your AI which I would NEVER send to a client.

Thank you

Thank you for getting back here in the Community, @astertalent. Please know that I hear your sentiments and acknowledge your thoughts on this.

The option to disable AI suggestions was unavailable a month ago. To do this now, you can preview the invoice email and look for a small icon in the subject line text box on the far right. Click on the icon to find the option to turn off the AI Suggested Subject.

If you don't see this option, you can consider submitting a proposal to our Product Development Team. They can review it and add an option to turn off the AI suggestions and improve the handling of sales transactions moving forward. Here's how:

  1. Open the invoice or create a new one.
  2. On the right corner beside the Manage and Take Tour buttons, select Feedback.
  3. Share your idea with the product, then click Next.

You can enter the same bid by clicking on the Gear icon next to your Profile at the top of the Home page. Keep an eye on the suggestions on this website and stay updated on recent developments through our blog.

There is no option to turn this off.

See Screenshot.

Instead of taking the time to log a feature request that will not be read, I will be finding a new company to handle my invoices is a waste of time and sending reminder invoices now is a HUGE chore, and before it worked perfectly well.

You're not the only one.  I've gotten pretty sick of the AI features getting in the way of every day tasks.  Xero actually appears to be a possible jump point...

I am just adding in that I agree with the original commenter. The generated emails are TERRIBLE. I read what was written in my invoice reminder and my jaw hit the floor.

I am adding a comment to agree with the original poster.  This is an alarming feature and we would never want it!  Quickbooks used to be wonderful.  It is becoming insufferable with advertising to us, forcing us to click 4-5 times to accomplish a task (used to be done in 1 click) - and now this AI CRAP.  The tone of these emails is horrible.  Sending one by mistake could lose us a client.

Also agree with the original poster that "feedback" does nothing.  Quickbooks stopped listening to users a long time ago.

I have had the same issue.  This new "feature" sent an invoice with a totally unprofessional and inappropriate subject line instead of the same generic subject line I had been using for months.  Fortunately, I had copied myself on the email and saw the subject line had been changed.  I immediately sent an apology to my client for the unprofessionalism that QBO added without warning me.

Overall the AI features they have added slow things down more than they help.  When adding an image of an invoice to an expense record, it tries to autofill the fields with the information it gleans.  It takes 30 to 60 seconds to accomplish this and it is incorrect 100% of the time, requiring me to correct the entries instead of just enter them myself.  WORTHLESS.

I'd like to add my voice to the chorus. I hadn't realized that QuickBooks started to add AI authored trash to my account, so I nearly sent an overdue invoice reminder written in a completely inappropriate and acceptable tone to a highly valued client, signed by my name! I was so infuriated I had to take a walk.

I'm done, I'm actively looking for an alternative to QuickBooks and won't be continuing to use Intuit products.
