Good day, @arkvalleyinfo.

Thank you for visiting us today. I can help you assess monthly statement finance charges in QuickBooks Online.

There are two available options for charging your customers late fees or finance/service charges:

  • Create a separate invoice for the charge
  • Add another line item to the existing invoice

Here are the steps in creating an invoice for an additional charge:

  1. Click the Plus icon.
  2. Choose Invoice.
  3. Enter the customer name.
  4. Select the item.
  5. Enter the amount.
  6. Click Save.

Here are the steps in adding another line item to the existing invoice:

  1. Open the existing invoice.
  2. Add the item.
  3. Enter the amount.
  4. Click Save.

The corresponding feature of Memorized Transaction in Desktop is Recurring Transaction in QBO. Here is and article for you that has the steps and some reminders: Create templates for recurring transactions.

That should get you on the right track, bobandrobinsteve.

Please know that I'm still here to help you more if you have follow up questions. Just leave a comment below or mention my name. Have a wonderful day!

Add this. If someone is asking, you know there are many many others that want this feature as well.

To answer your question, no you can not do that in QBO

Automatic finance charges is in beta.  Some people have it - have asked questions here about how to use it, but not sure how they got it

One of my clients had the BETA of this option, to automatically assess finance charges.  While the finance charges DID access automatically it caused them to loose the attachments linked to the invoice as well as the Class they had assigned it to.  Since they are a paperless company this is not satisfactory.  They had to open every invoice, find and reattach the supporting documents (by going to the attachments page) and reassign the class.  Definitely NOT worth the automatic finance charge function.

Intuit is trying but, so far, this is a big negative that needs to be addressed.

12/30/24 - almost 6 years later and still doesn't work. I just got off Chat with QBO and bottom line, submit feedback, this is the wording they suggested.

“I'm experiencing difficulty with the late fee feature not applying to past transactions to ensure that fees are applied consistently. I would like to apply finance charges to all open, overdue invoices, on a customer's monthly statement (like we could do in QBDesktop) Thank you for considering this enhancement to improve the product's functionality.”
