Question

How do we refund a client's money because his deposit is more than the cost of the job? He paid through Venmo. Can we find the steps on what we need to do to refund him?

@CharmCr  It sounds like you are asking how to actually refund the client's money, not just how to record the transaction.

While I am sure there is some formal process within QBO for this, I advise against it. You would likely be better off cutting them a check for the amount of the overpayment.

QuickBooks has a nasty habit of holding your funds in limbo, whether outgoing or incoming. Just ask @Just_me .

It's totally true.  Be careful what you let QB do with your money.  They will quickly make it THEIR money.
