I understand you want to upload a bank statement, Dean. Don't worry. I can show you the best way to pull up your banking transactions to your QuickBooks Online account.

If you want to upload your bank transaction automatically, we can connect your bank account and let you download the last 90 days of data.

Follow the steps below:

  1. Go to Banking, then select Bank Transactions.
  2. Select the blue tile for the account you want to upload.
  3. Pick the Link account.
  4. Enter the URL or name of your bank in the Search field, then select the bank.
  5. Enter your Sign info in the Login and Password fields, then select Continue
  6. Select the account that you want to connect and date to pull transactions from the dropdown ▼. Then, select Next.
  7. Select your account type on the Account type ▼ dropdown, then select Next.
  8. Note: Choose the account type that matches your chart of accounts in QuickBooks. If you don’t see the correct account type, select +Add new.
  9. When you accept your transactions, select Done.

Furthermore, you can refresh your bank feed to automatically download your recent bank transactions.

Here's how:

  1. Go to Transactions, then select Bank Transactions.
  2. Select Update.

Nevertheless, if you're unable to locate your bank or there missing transactions, you can manually upload transactions instead. Through manual upload transactions, we can import older transactions. We usually download this file from your bank. Before you can upload it, we need to ensure the data is in the correct format.

After uploading them, you can review the uploaded files and categorize them. Refer to this page for your guide: Categorize online bank transactions.

Once done, reconcile them to help your book balance and track accurately. You may visit this article: Reconcile an account in QuickBooks Online.

By following these steps, you can start an existing bank account in QuickBooks with an accurate beginning balance for the current year and manually enter transactions as needed. If you encounter any issues or need further assistance, we are here to back you up. Take care.
