Thanks for posting here in the Community, @adellaporte-thed.

You can certainly reverse a journal entry in QuickBooks Online if you need to update it or make corrections.

Here's how:

  1. Go to the Gear Icon ⚙️.
  2. Select Chart of Accounts.
  3. Locate the account used when creating the journal entry.
  4. Click the View register from the Action column to open.
  5. Find and click the transaction to Edit.
  6. At the bottom of the transaction, click the Reverse option. A new entry is created with the original Entry no. followed by an R, dated the first day of the month following the original transaction, and the original transaction's Debit and Credit amounts reversed.
  7. Once done, click Save and close.

Once reversed, all other information such as the Account, Name, and Description for each distribution line remains the same as the original transaction.

You can also delete the journal entry and make a fresh start. Please check this link for more details: Reverse or delete a journal entry.

If you need to print a report for your journal entry, you can check out this helpful article: Print a journal entry report.

Hmmm, I'm in the Edit feature and am at the bottom of my j/e to accrue payroll (Journal Entry #101170) but am not seeing any options beyond "Add lines" and "Clear all lines."

Transition to Online is unpleasant for someone with 25 yrs of Desktop expertise. It's like that quarter century of work is simply wiped away.

Hi there, Januaria55. Let me provide more information in editing your journal entry in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

There will be no options after Add lines and Clear all lines apart from Memo and Attachments. However, you can edit your line entries by simply clicking each line.

Here's how:

  1. Click the magnifying glass on the top right portion of your QBO account.
  2. Search for the JE you want to edit.
  3. Once opened, you can click on the lines you like to edit.

There will be no edit button beyond Add lines and Clear all lines. However, you can edit your JE by simply clicking each line.

Here's how to zoom out:

1. Click the three dots on your browser's top right corner.
2. Under Zoom, click the minus icon (-) to zoom out.

I've added a couple of screenshots for your visual reference.

In addition, you can visit our article on how to swap the debits and credits or delete your JE: Reverse or delete a journal entry in QuickBooks Online
