Hi there, @AubreyI. Thanks for sharing your concern on the QuickBooks Community page.
Before we proceed, can you tell me what invoice layout are you using right now? Are you experiencing this issue with the old invoice layout or the new one? Any additional info you can add would be very helpful in addressing your concern more effectively.
Upon checking my QuickBooks Test drive account using the old experience, I was able to perform a click and then drag to highlight texts in the Description column.
However, if you're experiencing this limitation with the new invoice experience, I'd suggest sending feedback to our developers. In this new layout, dragging the text will also reposition the entire line item.
- Select Settings and click Feedback.
- Enter your comments or product suggestions. Then select Next to submit feedback.
The feedback you've shared will be forwarded to our Product Development team, enabling them to continually refine and elevate your user experience within QuickBooks Online. Additionally, you can monitor the status of requested features through the dedicated QuickBooks Online Feature Requests website.
As a workaround, you have the option to revert to the previous invoice layout when modifying the description field of your invoice items. To do so, open an existing invoice, and look for the Old layout option in the top-right corner of the Invoice window. Click on it, then select Switch layout and provide a reason for your choice. Finally, click Leave and submit to complete the process.
I've also included detailed resources about working with invoices which may come in handy moving forward:
