Using QB online advanced. Would appreciate insight in how to create P&L type report by customer type. We have multiple Customer Types representing different Lines of Business so seeing the Revenue and COGS by each LOB is an important metric.

Creating a Profit and Loss by Customer Type report is currently unavailable. I'm here to help you how you can accomplish this, stromboli.

A profit and loss statement is a financial report that highlights income, expenditures, and profitability over a specific period. That's the reason the Customer Type details are not included in this report format.

However, your feedback is essential for our product team, as it helps us understand how important this feature could be for your business. To share your thoughts, please follow the steps outlined below.

  1. Go to the Gear icon, then Feedback.
  2. Enter your comments or product suggestions. Then select Next to submit feedback.

You can track feature requests through the QuickBooks Online Feature Requests website. This platform allows you to see the latest requests, provide feedback, and vote on features that you find valuable.

In the meantime, you can generate the Sales by Customer Type Detail report and export it to Excel. This will allow you to customize the report on how you want to show the data. Here's how:

  1. Go to the Reports tab, then type in the name of the report.
  2. Click the Export/Print drop-down arrow and choose Export Excel.

Additionally, QuickBooks offers several reports designed to meet your business needs. With a bit of customization, you can tailor these reports to extract the specific data you want. I've added this article for more details: Customize Reports in QuickBooks Online.
