How to customize a profit and loss report to include detailed transaction in Quickbooks Online

You can customize your Profit & Loss report to display specific data.

Here's how:
 

1. In the left navigation bar, go to Reports.
2. Find and open your Profit & Loss report. If you have an Essentials, Plus, or Advanced subscription, you can also run Profit & Loss Detail reports. This may be the specific report you're looking for. If you'd like to upgrade your plan, you can do so while signed in.
3. Use the basic filters on your report to adjust things like report dates.
4. Select Customize.

While customizing a report, you can apply multiple filters to it. Most reports have the same set of filters, and some filters are only available for certain reports.

Here's an overview of what you can customize:
 

• General section - Change things like your account method, reporting period, and number format.
• Rows/Columns section - Specify which rows and columns appear on the report.
• Filter section - Pick which customers, distribution account, vendors, accounts, and products appear on your report.
• Header/Footer section - You can decide what appears in the header and footer sections.

After customizing a report to your liking, you can also save it if necessary:
 

1. Click Save customization.
2. Give the report a name.
3. Select Save.

If you need to customize a report further than the options in QuickBooks enable you to, you can export it to Excel and customize it further outside of your books.
