How to edit customer's 'Name State' field

I have Quickbooks 2021 Premier and Wholesale Desktop. I am trying to generate reports for sales in California and sales outside. I generated sales by customer detail and added column 'Name State' however some customers are missing the state despite having a full address. How can I edit that 'Name State' field manually so I can generate these reports?

You can't, directly. Instead, if you enter the address using USPS standards, QB should parse the address properly.

Be sure to include the customer name on the first line, then one or two lines of street address, and then the City, State ZIP all on one line:

[Name] - required

[Name 2] - optional

[Street 1] - required

[Street 2] - optional

[City, ST ZIP] - required, comma optional and discouraged by the USPS

[Country] - optional

If you change the address to follow this pattern, then does it work?

Thanks BigRedConsulting! The problem was we had phone numbers in the address. We removed that and QB parsed it correctly.

Yes, phone numbers, notes and other junk will sometimes mess up QB's ability to parse the address.
