How to have a report show only transactions from today, but have total for all time

Hello,

I am trying to create a build assembly summary report that includes only transactions entered/edited today, but has a total that includes the quantity on hand for the fiscal year to date. Similar to an inventory item quickreport, but for multiple items. The intention is to have a report that I can use to see only items that were assembled yesterday and compare the total inventory after the assemblies to a physical count given to me from my employees. The problem is that I cannot both have the only assemblies I want show up on the report, while also having a YTD inventory count. I can do this now by just looking at two different reports but I was wondering if I could combine them into one to make it simpler.

Hi, @Blibla4774. It's great having you here in the QuickBooks Community. 

 

Since the values displayed in reports in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) depend on the reporting date, it isn't possible to create a report that showcases only transactions entered today, with a total that encompasses the quantity on hand for the fiscal year-to-date. However, I can suggest an alternative report to display multiple items much like the QuickReport from your Item list. You can then export the relevant reports to Excel and combine the data outside the software. 

 

You can consider running the Inventory Valuation Detail report to display data for multiple items like the QuickReport from your Item list and show the current quantity on hand. Here are the customizations you can follow: 

 

  1. Go to the Reports menu.
  2. Select Inventory from the drop-down menu, then choose Inventory Valuation Detail.
  3. Choose Yesterday for the reporting period. 
  4. Click on Customize Report.
  5. From the Display tab, uncheck the following:
    a. Cost
    b. Asset Value
    c. Avg Cost
  6. Select the Filters tab.
  7. From the Current Filter Choices section, select the Item filter.
  8. From the drop-down menu, choose Multiple items... and put a checkmark for the Build Assembly items.
  9. Hit OK.

 

After this, export the report and the other relevant report that shows the total quantity on hand for the fiscal year-to-date, and combine them outside the software.
