How to hide Products and Services column on the new invoice layout? Our Products and Services extensive list is for internal use only not for customers to see on invoice?

The old invoice layout did not show the Products and Services column. In our settings, the Show Products and Services default is turned off but it still shows on invoices for customers to see. We want this column to be hidden on the customer view.

Thanks for getting back to the thread, Debbie. I understand the urgency and importance of this matter. Let me share how we can handle your concern about turning off the Products and Services column on the new invoice layout.

In QuickBooks Online, the option to hide the Products and Services column on the new invoice preference is unavailable. This option is available in the old experience. Since all users will be migrated to the new experience there will no longer be a way to return to Classic invoicing for any customers.

In this case, I encourage you to share your thoughts directly in the Feedback section within QuickBooks. That way, our QuickBooks Developer team can study further about this feature and may add it to future product updates. Your input will help us identify areas where improvements can be made.

Here's how:

  1. Go to the Gear icon.
  2. Choose Feedback.
  3. Type in your product suggestions, then click Next to submit feedback.

You can visit our QuickBooks Online Feature Requests website to track the status of your submitted feedback.

Let's customize a custom invoice style together to suit your business needs, Debbie.

QuickBooks Online (QBO) allows you to customize the appearance and layout of sales forms such as invoices. This allows you to personalize them according to your preferences.

Here's how to create a custom invoice style in QBO:

  1. Click the Gear icon at the top right corner of the screen.
  2. Select Custom form styles under Your company.
  3. Press the New style dropdown and then pick Invoice.
  4. Go to the Content tab.
  5. Choose the Table part of the invoice.
  6. Tick or untick the desired options.
  7. Tap Done.

After customizing the invoice style, create a new invoice and select the custom form style you have created. You can do this by going to the Design section on the right panel and choosing the template you've just created.

For more information on personalizing sales forms, you can check out this article: Customize invoices, estimates, and sales receipts in QuickBooks Online.

To generate reports and have a comprehensive invoicing summary, you can refer to this guide: Run reports in QuickBooks Online.

Please feel free to drop any questions or concerns you have about invoicing in QuickBooks. I'm always ready to assist you, Debbie.

Your instructions apply only to the old invoice layout. The NEW mandated invoice layout that is in effect May 6 which does not allow the same customization features as the old, including the option to hide the Products and Services column on the customer's view.

We also need this to be available.  Please!

Thank you for backing me up. I am greatly disappointed that QuickBooks made known to clients the product and services IDs that for years were for internal-use only, and that QB did not provide us with any work-around to avoid having clients see this detail on their invoices. Due to the fact that I cannot just stop invoicing via QuickBooks (i.e. manually generate invoices via another program) because our clients need to be able to pay invoices via QuickBooks, I'm left with no choice but the embarrassment of allowing the customers to view our internal "codes" for products and services.

I agree 100%!  I am in the same situation.  It is absolutely ridiculous that they force us to use these new templates but do not give us all the features we need.  I am so sorry that I switched to this software.  It is horrible!

This is a huge problem and concern for me as well. It creates extra work on my end when creating estimates now because I do not want the customers to see the qty. It used to be able to view only on my end and now I have to completely shut that feature off. If I need to order material now I have to revert back to my original hard copy paperwork. The only plus side to the new estimate feature is the ability to confirm if the customer has viewed it. QB please fix this.

I can't believe this is Intuit's reply.  What the heck?  We absolutely do not want the Product/Service column displayed on customer-facing invoices.  This naming scheme is totally internal and has been for over 20 years!

PLEASE FIGURE OUT A WAY TO UNDO THIS RIDICULOUS CHANGE!

I am looking for the thumbs down response button.

Please give us the option to hide products and services on new invoices.  Please.

What more can we say?

Cannot believe there is no way to hide the products and Services Column.

I also completely agree.  I was able to do this for years with my desktop version of Quickbooks.  Ever since migrating to QBO it has been nothing but frustration.  I can't believe this feature is impossible to offer in QBO.  The ability to hide internal notes in an invoice column when printing seems about as basic as it gets. Or the ability to create a custom column in invoices that can simply be toggled off for printing/PDF.

PLEASE FIX THIS QUICKBOOKS!!

I have had to resort to methods that take much, much longer to accomplish the same task. QBO was a dramatic increase in cost for my small business with no new benefits to me.

Hello there, Dustin.

I've noticed that you've already posted your concern about having the ability to add custom columns to invoices and hide them when printing twice. I recognize how this feature can further enhance your business communication. Please know that my colleague has provided relevant information to address your queries that you can check through this link: https://quickbooks.intuit.com/learn-support/en-us/reports-and-accounting/re-is-there-a-way-to-toggle-off-an-invoice-column-s-visibility/01/1476875/highlight/true#M225802.

Keep in touch if there's anything I can assist you with when customizing your invoices in QuickBooks Online. We're here to help in all possible ways to get you back to business.

It's not relevant because it's not an acceptable solution. Anything that causes more time spent costs businesses more money. Don't change what already works! Makes zero sense.

Debbie and Larry - well said.  I have been on the exhaustive search for a replacement  of this software now for over a year.  Intuit has made so many useless and unhelpful changes to QuickBooks that I began to wonder if there are ANY accountants working for this company anymore.

Our costs to manage QBO is ridiculous.  My firm's administrative management costs skyrocketed right before my eyes and 90% of the increase is due to some of these dumb changes with QuickBooks.  I am convinced that QBO is not interested in working with accountants.  Instead, they would rather work with non-accountant users.  The software subscription discounts for accounting firms are tiny, they spend more time developing better solutions for non-accountants (that only confuse them later), and they rarely seek accountants' input on changes before making them.  Instead, they hold these dumb after-the-fact forum meetings with us (while the non-accountant users are on the call too).

When I find a good alternative, I will swing back to this thread.  But like you, I am in so deep with them (been using QuickBooks since its inception - when they were just Quicken) that it is very difficult to unravel and start anew.  Sadly, I do not see things getting better as my complaints have gone unaddressed.

I fully agree and starting to look at other platforms.  I am a small business and the costs keep going up on a very frequent basis with more problems.  Has anyone tried FreshBooks?

You would think if quickbooks desktop had it for many years, it would be easy to just add it to the online version that I was forced to use if I wanted to continue with quickbooks.  The invoices looks so tacky and unprofessional
