How to reconcile a credit card with a credit balance

Welcome to the Community, @M Bader. When a credit is recorded after the last reconciliation but before the current one, it affects the beginning balance of the current period. This happens because QuickBooks takes the ending balance from the last reconciliation and uses it as the starting balance for the new period.

To ensure accuracy, transactions should be reconciled according to the dates they appear on the customer's credit card statement. If you encounter this issue, you should generate the reconciliation discrepancy report. This report will help you identify and manually unreconciled the credit amount from the previous reconciliation period. Follow the prompts in QuickBooks to navigate to this report and adjust the records accordingly. I’m here to guide you every step of the way.

Here's how to view the reconciliation discrepancy report:

1. Navigate to the Transactions menu and select the Reconcile tab.
2. Click the prompt that says We can help you fix it to view the discrepancy report.

     3. Double-click the accurate transaction, then change the status from R to blank.
     4. Select Save, then Done to complete the process.

After fixing, take note that you can only reconcile the credit amount once you receive the refund in your credit card account.
