I am selling my business. Do I simply change out info on quickbooks to theirs or do I export info (sales and customer info) and they have to open their own?

You may consider to convert your data to QB Desktop file format and you can use the trial version to access your historical data for good. Then you can transfer the Primary Admin access to the new owner. Make sure they will change the payment method to pay the subscription immediately.

You can add them to your QuickBooks Online (QBO) company and transfer the Primary Admin role to the new owner of the company file. After that, they can modify all details, including the payment method for the subscription. To add a new user, refer to this article: Add and manage users in QuickBooks Online.

Once you're ready, these are the steps on how to transfer the Primary Admin role to a new user:

1. Access your QuickBooks Online company.
2. On the top-right corner, click the Gear icon.
3. Select Manage users.
4. Find the user you want to make the primary admin.
5. In the User Type column, make sure they are listed as Admin. If they’re not, select Edit to change their role to admin.
6. Select the ellipsis icon in the Action section. Then, select Change primary admin.
7. Select Change primary admin again to confirm the change.
8. Once done, sign out of QuickBooks.
