Question

I am trying to go back to my old sales invoice that included a shipping tracking number box, date of shipment, and a place to add the shipping cost at the bottom.

I saved a default template but it keeps going back to the modern one.

Hello, @KStein

I am here to help. I will also give updates on the recent changes to QuickBooks Online's (QBO) new invoice layout.

Although other shipping fields are unavailable in the new invoice layout, you can enable the Shipping fee option when creating an invoice. Here's how:

  1. In your invoice, select the Gear icon.
  2. Choose the Payment options tab.
  3. Toggle on Shipping fee.

QBO is gradually rolling out this new layout for different users and subscriptions, and this will soon be the default invoice experience. I suggest checking if you can switch back to the old invoice layout.

If available, please click on this option in your invoice sheet:

If switching back to the old invoice layout isn't possible, I encourage submitting a feature request to our product engineers within your QBO account, especially about having shipping fields in invoices. This is an essential feature and your experience will highlight where the software needs to improve.

  1. In your QBO account, go to the Gear icon.
  2. Select Feedback.
  3. Enter your comments or product suggestions.

I'm adding this article as a reference in navigating the new experience for estimates and invoices: See what’s new with estimates and invoices in QuickBooks Online.

You're always welcome in the QuickBooks Community should you have further concerns about shipping fields in invoices. Take care.
