Solved

I attempt to import invoices, I get the notice: Import invoices isn't quite ready to support sales tax. We're working on it. Support for sales tax will be coming soon.

I don't charge sales tax to my services and the invoices do not have any tax charges. It is a Quickbooks file from my EHR. I'm not able to upload the file.

Hi there, @myndheal.

Welcome to the Community. I can help you get rid of the error message when importing invoices.

You usually encounter the notice when the sales tax feature is enabled. If you don't collect sales tax on products and services in QuickBooks, I recommend turning off the feature.

Here's how:

  1. On the left navigation bar, click Taxes.
  2. Press Sales tax settings in the upper-right corner.
  3. Select Turn off sales tax

Additionally, I recommend visiting the following article to learn more about the accepted CSV formats in QuickBooks: Format CSV files in Excel to get bank transactions into QuickBooks.

Drop me a comment below if you have any other questions related to importing data. I'll be happy to help you some more.

Hi, turning off taxes does not work after even one invoices has a tax checkbox next to a line item.

Please advise. I am in the same place, but already have invoices in the system, and 100s more to import.

Thanks

Hello, Homecook. I understand how important it is to import your invoices.

You'll want to look for a third-party application that can import invoices. This way, you'll have an option to import multiple invoices with QuickBooks Online. Just go to the Apps menu or through the QuickBooks App Centre.

I've got you these resources for additional reference and guide about importing invoice in QBO:

Keep me posted if you have any additional questions about importing concerns. I'll be right here to help.

I have come across this error and sales tax function is turned off in my company & customer setting.  Still the import invoice is not working.  Called Intuit and they cannot help (keep insisting I need to get Quickbooks Advanced).  I'm currently on Quickbooks Plus, I was able to import back in Oct 2022.  Do anyone have any solution to help me out, I have over 1k invoices to get in Quickbooks.

I'm having the same problem. I am trying to import invoices from an excel file that was exported from QB desktop software, and the below message comes up. I have tried to turn off sales tax settings, but that doesn't work. This message comes up before I can choose the file to upload, so it isn't my excel file.

Please help!

I just got off a lengthy chat session with the QB team regarding this issue.

There are two ways to import invoices after setting up sales tax:
1 - Delete the account and open a new one. Don't set up sales tax this time 🙂
2 - Pay an additional fee to access a third party app that fills this gap in the QB functionality. Even though a bug created the need for this app, QB will not offset the customer cost associated with this solution.

We don't have much data in yet, so we'll probably choose to delete the account and deal with the refund process.

What a bummer... I wish I had known this. I only setup sales tax to try it with the QBO Advisor training. Otherwise I would have never set it up! UGH!

I saw this was solved which is great but I don't have those prompts on my version which is QBO advanced. Called customer service and they told me to do exactly what I did and it still doesn't work. So does anyone have a real way to change sales tac because I need to import invoices.. Thanks

Hi there, @vandalen1.

I can see the importance of being able to import invoices. As mentioned by my colleague above, once you set up sales tax on your account, you can no longer import invoices. As a workaround, you can look for a third-party app you can integrate with QuickBooks Online (QBO) to help you import invoices. You can go to the Apps menu inside your QBO account and look for an app.

We recognize that each company has unique needs, and I can see how the feature you're looking for would benefit and empower your business. I recommend sending this request straight to our product engineers through feedback. It helps us improve the features of the program.
