Question

I can no longer search customers in the QB app by address. (Can only search by name.) It was FINE until 10 days ago. Is there a trick to continuing to search by address?

Another "upgrade"? As of 10ish days ago, we can no longer search for customers in the app by address. It was FINE until about 1- days ago. I asked about it on a QB/FaceBook thread (they seem to respond when they're trying to sell something). The final answer was they would send my issue to their techs and try to do a new build out (I'm paraphrasing).

I don't want anything new. I just want what we had for YEARS until about 10 days ago.

Is anyone else dealing with this? If so, have you figured out a workaround?

Thanks in advance.

I understand how beneficial this feature is for you and your business, @LadyRoxann. Allow me to share an update about searching your customers by address.

Upon checking, we've been receiving similar reports. With this, our product engineer has made an INV-101971 about the unavailability of the option to search for customers by address.

Since you've experienced the same case, I suggest contacting our support team so that you'll be added to the list of affected users, and receive timely updates via email:

  1. Sign in to your QuickBooks Online company.
  2. Select Help (?).
  3. Select either tab to get started:
      • Start a chat with a support expert.
      • Get a callback from the next available expert.

However, this INV is for iOS users. If you're not using iOS, please don't hesitate to let me know. This way, we can give you the appropriate solution you need.

Furthermore, you can check out this article to learn how to manage your customers: Edit your customer details in the QuickBooks Online app.

If you have any other QuickBooks-related concerns, feel free to share them. Stay safe.

I agree my fiancé is probably sick of hearing me whine. I use QuickBooks for our tree service business and LIVE off the address, town or last name search option. Now it’s so critical if I have a couple in the system and don’t search by whoever’s name is listed first it doesn’t even bring up the customer! UGH!!! We need answers!

It has crippled us. My boss calls me almost every day asking  when it will be fixed. QB keeps saying they will try to do this for us as an “enhancement build”…? I’ve told them several times it’s not an enhancement. It’s something that was working that they broke or took away.

I’m serious when I say that every time they “ upgrade” I have to spend hours trying to figure out a workaround. Wish they would stop.

I’m assuming you were able to do this prior also? That you could search by address before earlier this month?

Yes the address search was critical, I’m a very geographical thinker. Often times I can removed a street or town the customer is on, but be drawing a blank on the name. It also often helps when we receive checks in the mail with an address and an unknown name-the address search often helps identify the unknown check. We’ve had this up until a week or so ago. Absolutely lost without. The whole search engine under the customer category seems to be more “glitchy” than before. Just did an update today, and had high hopes of the address problem being fixed but unfortunately not. Let me know if you have any luck!
