Hi, perilcastillo.

Let's figure out the cause of the duplicate transactions and get you back on track.

When you reconnect to your bank, QuickBooks downloads the most recent transactions again, including those that may have already been imported. This can lead to duplicates, especially if you manually entered any transactions during the disconnection period.

Fortunately, the data needs your approval before being added to QuickBooks. During categorization, you can choose to Add or Match them. If a transaction already exists in QuickBooks, selecting Match will prevent duplication. Choosing Add creates a new entry, resulting in duplicates.

To resolve this, let’s review the transactions listed in the For Review tab on the banking page. Then, we can exclude them so they won't show in the account register. Here's how:

  1. Go to Transactions, then select Bank transactions.
  2. Click the For Review tab.
  3. Tick the checkbox of the transactions to exclude.
  4. Select Exclude.

If a transaction is a personal expense, it’s best to add it rather than exclude it. This ensures your QuickBooks balance matches your bank statement during reconciliation. You can find more information here: Exclude a bank transaction you downloaded into QuickBooks Online.

After addressing the duplicates, reconcile your accounts to confirm that your bank statement and QuickBooks balance match.
