I filed my contractors 1099 NEC on January 22 and received confirmation from Intuit. When will my contractors receive their 1099's?

QuickBooks typically sends 1099 tax forms to contractors after January 31st, the IRS deadline for mailing these documents. Even though the 1099 forms only need to be postmarked to contractors by January 31st, QuickBooks requires processing time to ensure all contractor payment data for 2022 has been compiled before finalizing and mailing out the 1099s.


Additionally, QuickBooks facilitates electronic 1099 delivery by enabling contractors to access earnings statements directly in a secure online portal. 

 

You can invite your contractors to access their 1099 forms through QuickBooks. We can navigate to the section for your contractors, and send them an email inviting them to either sign in to their existing QuickBooks account or create a free QuickBooks Self-Employed account.

 

Here’s how you can send them an email:

 

  1. Go to the Expenses menu and select the Contractors tab.
  2. Tap the vendor to whom you want to send an invitation.
  3. On your vendor’s profile, click the Send email hyperlink.

 

Once they’ve got their email, they can start creating their account and log in by following the steps below:

 

  1. Sign in to QuickBooks Self-Employed.
  2. Go to the Clients menu.
  3. Select the Forms tab.
