I finalized a checking account reconcilement with an ending date that was one year later than the actual date. How do I fix that?

If your transactions aren't reconciled yet and are still in the process of reconciling your account, you can change the ending date by modifying it to the reconciliation page. You can follow the steps below for guidance:

1. Go to Transactions, then select the Reconcile tab.
2. Choose the bank account from the Account dropdown list.
3. Click the Resume reconciling button.
4. Tick the Edit Info button located in the upper right-hand corner.
5. Change the Ending Date.
6. Click Save.

On the other hand, if you've already completed the reconciliation, the option to change the ending date in the program is unavailable. However, you can manually undo transactions from the completed reconciliation. Before proceeding, I recommend consulting with your accountant to ensure your records are in order. They can also undo the entire reconciliation by using the Undo reconciliation feature to unreconciled entries without manually editing individual transactions from within the register. This feature is only available if they're using the QuickBooks Online Accountant version to manage their accounts. 

Here's how to manually unreconciled transactions:

1. Go to Transactions, then select Chart of Accounts.
2. Find the account for the reconciled transactions, then click View Register.
3. Look for the transaction that you want to unreconciled, then in the check column, keep on clicking the R status until it shows as blank.
4. Click on Save, then choose Yes in the confirmation window.

Once you've undone the transactions, you can start the reconciliation process again and enter the correct ending date.
