Question

I have a check dated 12/17/23 that has not cleared. I want to void it and reissue but I do not want to change the balances for 2023. What is the best way to do this?

Voiding the check will change its status but will not affect your financial reports for 2023, Lacdstfinance.  Let me go over the details.

To begin, locate the specific check dated 12/17/2023 and click on it to open the transaction. Then, Void it.

When reissuing the new check, use the same expense account as the original to maintain consistency in your financial records. Here's how:

  1. Click on the +New button in the upper left corner.
  2. Select the Check under the Vendors column.
  3. Fill out the new check details, including the date, payee, amount, and the necessary information.

After completing this process, keep track of both the original and new check numbers for your records.

Additionally, you can print a check from the queue after creating it in QuickBooks Online.

I'll be here to assist if you have further questions about voiding and creating checks to make sure everything is taken care of. Have a great day ahead!
