Question

I have quickbooks online. How do I record an expense in one month but the payment date is the current date?

Hello there, treasurer. Let me help you record your expenses accurately.

First, you'll need to create a prepaid expense for accurate and comprehensive financial reporting.

Here's how:

  1. Go to the Gear icon, the select Chart of accounts.
  2. On the upper right corner, click the New button then choose Assets.
  3. Select Other Current Assets, then choose Prepaid Expenses from the Tax form section.
  4. Enter the account name and hit Save.

Once done, you may create a Journal Entry.

  1. Select + New.
  2. Select Journal entry.
  3. Debit the appropriate expense account and credit prepaid expense you've created.
  4. Enter the correct Journal date, Description, Name, and Amount.
  5. Hit Save and close.

Furthermore, I've added this article if you'll want to run basic reports: Run reports in QuickBooks Online.
