Question

I’m only seeing balance sheet accounts as options for categorizing transactions with the QB app. How do I see income statement accounts as well?

The income statement accounts can be seen along with the other accounts when categorizing transactions. Let's perform a few steps so you can view them successfully, lkrupp.

Before anything else, are you using the QuickBooks mobile app (Android) (iOS) or the QuickBooks Online Desktop app? By knowing which one you're using, we can investigate and address this appropriately.

In the meantime, if you're using the QuickBooks Online Desktop app, you can reset app data to fix common issues in your books.

  1. Click Help on the navigation bar at the top.
  2. Select Reset App Data.
  3. Wait for the process to complete, then close the app.
  4. Right-click the app and Run as Administrator when re-opening.

For the QuickBooks mobile app, you can clear the app's cache. The app stores cache files that can sometimes cause an unusual response to the system. The steps below vary on the device you're using.

Refresh data in the QuickBooks Online app:

  1. Go to the Menu ☰.
  2. Select Help & Feedback.
  3. Click Refresh Data.
  4. Then, Refresh.

In your device Settings:

  1.  From your device's Settings, select Setting General iPhone Storage.
  2. Choose an app.
  3. Select Offload App.

Another option is to categorize your transactions in a web browser. Use a supported browser for QuickBooks to guarantee good performance.
