Question

I need a basic window that allows me to show debit card purchase, as the older DT QB provide; debit exp. acct. for part of total; and show cash back into petty cash.

I would be more than happy to assist you in tracking your debit card purchases. Keeping an accurate record of your transactions is crucial for effective financial management, and I’m here to help you with that process.

To ensure that we're on the same page, could you please provide some additional context or specify which specific area of QuickBooks Desktop you are referring to? Additionally, if you could provide a screenshot of the area in question, it would be helpful in providing you with more targeted solution.

Please know that QuickBooks Desktop and QuickBooks Online are two different platforms, so their user interfaces and set of features are different.

In QuickBooks Online, debit card purchases are recorded as either a check or an expense, whereas cashbacks are recorded as a deposit. In contrast to the desktop version, where related entries such as cashbacks received for a specific payee and other linked purchases are visible on the left-side panel of the screen when you open a particular transaction, QBO doesn't have this interface.

Instead, you can pull up a transaction list report to view this information. I'll show you how:

  1. Go to the Reports.
  2. Open Transaction List by Vendor.
  3. Set the report date and add the necessary columns.
  4. Click the Filter option, then select Transaction Type and Vendor.
  5. Select the appropriate type of transactions and vendor name.
  6. Close the Filter panel.

On the other hand, if you want to view to the debit and credit side of the purchases you've recorded, simply open the transaction and select Transaction journal from More.

If you mean something else, I encourage adding more details below. Moreover, to learn more about customizing your reports, check out this article: Customize reports in QuickBooks . You can also memorize it to save its current customization settings. It serves as your record and helps you quickly access it for future use.
