I recently received a check from a metal recycler. They aren't technically a customer that I provide my services to. How should I be inputting these checks?

Make them a customer

create a service item named recycle or something, link it to an Other Income account, and use that on a sales receipt to record the payment.

I'm in metal fabrication as well and just received my first metal recycling check. Would it be totally incorrect to make it a credit to COGS?
