I spent hours typing in expenses, today I went into my account and there are no expenses listed other than the payroll expenses.  Why am I not seeing all the other items I put in?  (gas expense, food expense, office supplies, etc)

It's good to see you here, @lolockie.

Let's locate the expense transactions and all other items you entered.

First, let's try to Filter the list to view all Expense transactions with the correct dates in your bank register. Here's how:

  1. From the Transactions tab, choose Chart of Accounts.
  2. Select the account where you place all the expense transactions. Then, click View Register.
  3. Click the Funnel icon on the left page below the Bank Register name.
  4. In the Transaction type, select Expense. In the Date, pick Custom. Type the date you entered the expense transactions.
  5. Click Apply, once done.

After that, if the expense transactions don't show, let's utilize the audit log. To see the historical data. Customize the filter to the exact date you entered the expense transactions.

If the same issue persists, let's perform basic troubleshooting steps. To start, log in to your account in a private browser or incognito mode. This will not store cache data that may cause odd behaviors. Also, to identify if this is a browser-related concern. Shortcut keys are provided below:

  • Google Chrome: press Ctrl + Shift + N
  • Mozilla Firefox: press Ctrl + Shift + P
  • Microsoft Edge: press Ctrl + Shift + N
  • Safari: press Command + Shift + N

Next, locate your expense transactions there. If this is effective, let's remove the accumulated data from your regular browser by clearing its cache. We can also use another supported browser or device if the issue persists, It might be that the current one you're using has a temporary issue with the program.

You might want to match your bank transactions to avoid duplicates. You can read this article: Match online bank transactions in QuickBooks Online.

Feel free to reply to this post if you have additional questions about managing your expense transactions. I'll reply as soon as possible. Keep safe and have a good one.
