Question

I still mostly pay bills with a check. QB now defaults to online payments and now cannot opt out. Am I missing something here?

QB used to allow me to write a check, now it constantly reverts to online payments which I don't want to use all the time. When I used to click on "schedule payment" it would allow me to choose my bank and handwrite a check. Not all my vendors accept online payments. Prefer mailed check.

Hi there, jbeattie6238.

You can choose the Paper Check option, and we'll mail the check to your vendor's address.

If online payment or the above option is not applicable for some of your vendors, simply save and close their bills and not choose the Save and schedule payment option when you create them. Then, mark them as paid and print the check yourself.

If you have other questions in mind, feel free to go back to this thred.

Hi Jess - I prefer to write my on checks most times.  I used to have no problems doing this with QB, but now when I "save and schedule" payment, it goes straight to online services.  Not options for writing my only check and setting Bill as paid.  I wonder why they got rid of this option?  We cant be the only small business that still writes their own checks mostly.

Hello jbeattie6238!

QuickBooks Online is now partnered with online payment service providers to offer you new options to settle your bills. Bill Pay by Melio is one of those.

I understand that you don't want this feature and you prefer to simply write a check. While we're unable to disable this option, you can follow the steps shared by JessT, by clicking the drop-down arrow so you can select the Save and close or Save and new button.

Also, I've added these links if you need a supplier or other financial reports:
