I've got your back, Michael!

The reason why you can't automate a percentage into the tax envelope could be because your automated sales tax option is turned off. Ensure that it's turned on so that the calculations are automatically done for you. Once you're all set up, you can start saving sales tax on your envelopes.

However, if you're unable to do the task despite having turned on the option, it's likely due to a cache-related issue. If this is the case, you can perform some troubleshooting steps. You can use a private or incognito window to rule out cache problems in your browser. Here are the shortcut keys:

  • For Mozilla Firefox browser: Ctrl + Shift + P
  • For Google Chrome browser: Ctrl + Shift + N
  • For Safari browser: Command + Shift + N

Next, log in to your QuickBooks Online (QBO) account and automate a percentage into the tax envelope again. If it works, you can clear your browser's cache. This removes the webpage data that's causing the issue. If a private browser doesn't work, you can use other installed supported browsers as another option.

Moreover, you can manage where you collect sales tax to let QBO keep track of your state's tax laws. For more details, check out this article: Set up where you collect sales tax in QuickBooks Online.

Please leave a reply if you have further concerns with your tax envelopes. We're still ready to back you up. Stay safe!
