I want to add a new account in Chart of Accounts. But when I click green "New" button, why does it only say "New category Categories are for tax time and accounting."?

I expect that when I click green "New" I get a screen that allows me to select the "Account Type" in a dropdown menu, tochoose an account type and to also allow me to specify some details and a name. Instead, it asks me to create a new Category, which is not what I want to do. I just want a new account in my Chart of Accounts.

The message you're getting will prompt when you're QuickBooks Online company is set to Business View. To correct this, you can click the Gear icon on the top right and choose the Switch to Accountant view link.

 

Then some of the QuickBooks Online terms will automatically change in a couple of seconds. You can now create a new account from the Chart of accounts without seeing the prompt from before.

    Thank you @mv32 That worked! I wish the Help docs online would have stated that on the page giving instructions on how to add a new account. Was very confusing as a new user to have the default view be Business and not have the instructions work as written. But am very glad you were able to show me where that was located. Thanks again.
