"'To Print' is really just a check number.

Unfortunately, that isn't true. It is a Status. You see the text, which is not always verifying the Status.

"2. Rather than enter a check number, type 'To Print'. As you start typing it should pop up"

Open any of these checks, where you see "to Print" from the Register view, to confirm the To Print box on the Ribbon is Checkmarked.

What happens is, you think you marked them To Print. But when you try to use Print Forms > Checks, there is nothing loaded into the Print Queue = that is Words, not Status.

You can also batch print from a check:

Hm, perhaps it's because as soon as I start typing 'T...' it autofills, which leads me to believe QB recognizes it as a status change. If I continue to type the whole thing out manually 'T-o P-r-i-nt' it doesn't pick it up. So you're right, it's just words at that point.

You simply Confirm it. That's how you know what it is or is not doing. This is one of the may reasons why I recommend Not working in the Register view, in fact. Not all tools offer access to all functions.

go to File > Print > Checks

'To Print' is really just a check number.

Notice that when entering checks one at a time, you can check the 'To Print' box and it changes the form from a Check Number field to say 'To Print'.

Same logic in Batch Entering:
1. Make sure you've got 'Number' selected as one of your columns to display (change via 'Customize Columns' button if not)
2. Rather than enter a check number, type 'To Print'. As you start typing it should pop up
3. Right click and 'Copy Down' to apply to all rows
