Let me share some details on migrating your inventory from QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) to QuickBooks Online (QBO).
Moving your inventory from QBDT to QBO is only available in QuickBooks Online Plus and Advanced, where it follows the FIFO (First In, First Out) method. Before transferring the data, you'll receive a prompt to choose the inventory date for FIFO. Once you have selected the date, modifying or editing any transactions that occurred before that date isn't possible.
Right then, your QBO will make adjustments to recalculate inventory based on the FIFO start date. Know that QBO doesn’t support units of measure for inventory items.
Please note that using QBDT for Mac, your inventory items will be migrated as non-inventory items in QBO. If you want to transfer them as inventory items, you have to convert your QBDT for Mac file to QBDT for Windows. Then utilize this tool to migrate them as inventory items in QBO.
