Question

I want to use the new Bill Pay, but I'm not a US national. I do have an ITIN but it's not accepted as SSN, so how do I continue to use Bill Pay? (the old one worked fine)

It seems QBO switched away from Melio towards Inuit's own payment service. The Melio version worked fine, but the new version insist on an SSN, and does not accept an ITIN as an SSN. What can we fill in as SSN to be able to use Bill Pay again (for ACH with a US bank account, the linking of that works fine), or how do we get our ITIN accepted as SSN?

Hello there, stefan. I'll share details about the new Bill Pay setup.

Melio-powered Bill Pay is being phased out for some users. We've notified select users that they can migrate to QuickBooks Bill Pay. These users will no longer have access to Bill Pay powered by Melio and can now sign up for QuickBooks Bill Pay.

QuickBooks may require an SSN for Bill Pay due to its integration with U.S. banking and financial systems, which may not accommodate individuals with ITINs from different countries.

You may also want to look at a third-party application to access Bill Pay. You can find one by visiting this website: Apps for QuickBooks Online.

Furthermore, you can directly log in to the Melio-powered bill pay website using Intuit credentials. There's a special green button on the site just for this purpose.

For additional reference about QuickBooks Bill Pay, please see these resources:

If you have invoices that you want to set automatic payments so customers can pay you quickly and easily, access this reference for the complete procedure: Set up Autopay for recurring invoices.

Let me know if you have more queries or need assistance with Bill Pay. I'm always here to help.

@stefan-nl

You can signup for a free Melio account to integrate with QBO and keep using your ITIN. Your old data will re-sync with the new Melio account.

You can also get $100 cashback to pay the first bill.

Hi all,

Thanks for the tips! I was able to pay the bills via Melio's interface, which is great :D.

However, ofc. it's easier to have it all in one place, so I hope QBOs own Bill Pay get the necessary updates so we can use that option as well, instead of needing to go to a different portal of Melio.

Thanks for the help!

As far as I know, Intuit has never supported ITIN holders using their products. You have no choice.
