I send the invoice with the entire amount, then when paid, change the invoice to reflect the discount.

Welcome to the Community space,

I'm here to provide details about entering invoice discounts in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

First off, could you please clarify how you applied the discount? Did you adjust the amount directly, use the line item, or the discount feature? Let me walk you through the process of adding a discount to an invoice.

Before applying a discount to invoices, you'll need to turn on the discount setting first. Here's how:

  1. Select Settings ⚙ and then Account and settings.
  2. Select the Sales or Invoicing tab.
  3. In the Sales form content section, select Edit ✎.
  4. Turn on the Discount setting.
  5. Select Save and then Done.

After that, you can now apply a discount using the discount feature in QuickBooks. Here are the steps:

  1. Go to Sales, then click Invoices.
  2. Choose an invoice you want to apply a discount.
  3. In the Action column, click Edit.
  4. Scroll down, then choose Discount percent and enter a percentage amount.
  5. Once done, hit Save and close.

Also, you can customize your sales forms to personalize and add specific information.
