Question

If I had to resubmit 1099s due to incorrect company legal name will the 1099s QB mails to contractors note them as corrected or should I contact the contractors?

I'm here to provide information about the amended 1099, glam.

The option to resubmit a 1099 form isn't available in QuickBooks Online (QBO). Rest assured, once this functionality becomes available, you will be notified either through in-product or via email.

In the meantime, we have to file the corrected forms outside the program. After resubmitting, your contractors will receive both the incorrect and corrected forms. Also, I would suggest contacting your contractors and letting them know which forms are accurate.

You can keep an eye on this article for updates about the amended 1099: Correct or change 1099s in QuickBooks

Let me guide you on how to resubmit manually outside the program:

  1. Order 1099-NEC IRS forms online at IRS Online Ordering for Information Returns and Employer Returns.
  2. Enter the necessary information on the 1099-NEC form and ensure to key in the correct Social Security Number.
  3. Then, tick the Corrected box.
  4. Once done, mail the form to the IRS.

I'll add these articles about the common questions about 1099 and how to resubmit 1099-NEC or 1099-MISC forms rejected by the IRS:
